This piece was achieved by first of all, ghosting and handling the charcoal dust as a watercolour, then blending it together with my fingers to give uniform tones. A medium oil base pencil was then used to put in basic lines,...

This is number 8 in my current series on emotions.







The emphasis is on human emotions. I played a lot of American Snooker and Pool with my friends when I used to work with St Mungos. I co-ordinated activities and games, one of those games was Monday night pool- it was highly competitive and emotions flew high as there were great prizes at stake and prestige to loose or gain, a new champion to emerge...

Here I have used the sanguine dust with a ghosting technique applied to the board with tissue paper and carefully I have used a an eraser to take out highlights as if I was painting with white.

I was divinely inspired to do this piece this morning while I knelt down with my little boy Josh in morning prayer. I let him pray and he prayed those simple lovely prayers that children so innocently pray about...bless mummy, bless daddy, bless mummy's baby(because Ruth my wife is pregnant) bless auntie Funmis baby(because my sister is pregnant too)....that's all I can remember.

This guy is one of the great buskers around, these are the guys that play on the trains and tubes to make music while the commuters drop a few coins in appreciation. I worked with him at St Mungos and he was very much interested in art too, he worked in coloured pencils.
